You have just opened an online store on Instagram. Or you've just debuted as an influencer going to be. You're wondering, how can i get my first 1000 Instagram followers? Is it possible? I believe I have created good content. I just need people to acknowledge my hard work. I want to see my followers liking my page.
We have been there before. Some of you might have get through this phase of social media, some of you might still struggle in getting through this phase. How can we get our first 1000 Instagram followers?
Shopify told us that: 80% of users follow at least one brand on Instagram, with 60% of these users saying they’ve discovered new products or services through the platform. At least 30% of Instagram users have purchased products they discovered on Instagram.65% of top-performing Instagram posts clearly feature products.
Seeing this contrast, is it possible to do so?
Where can I start? And how do I do it?
Here's how you can do it:
1. Reach your friends
Friends are supposed to help each other. Let your friends know that you are doing something. Believe it or not, the math will give you something big in return.
Let's say your friends have around 500 followers on Instagram . When you created an Instagram post story and you asked for their participation to help you, most of the time your friends will be glad to do so.
"Hey, I've just launched this online shop. can you post this picture on your Instagram story and tag @xyz ? It might sounds cheesy but it means a lot for me."
Tell that to 10 of your friends and you have around 5000 reaches ! by the time i tried this, i have 300 profile visit on my Instagram account with only 25 followers. It's rough, your Instagram followers won't jump immediately over night in normal circumstances. But at least you know the awareness is there.
2. Post contents regularly.
It is important to post daily, with a thoughtful content everyday. don't stress yourself with the number of likes you get, however try to see the trends of which kind of post your followers like more. If you're desperate for likes, you can try promoting it, however, it's not your end goal. Depending on what your business goal is, promoting content might help you. But, regular post content will engage better for long term. If you want to know how to create good content, I learn a lot from Neil Patel. You should listen to his podcast together with Eric Siu, Marketing School. It's a bliss !
3. Scout your Competitor.
The other day I have this online shop, after 1 week of posting regularly, the result did not generate any sales at all. It is a side job, however I believe, it took a lot of nurture if you want to make sure it's a success. To do so, you can observe your competitors, see their potential customer and offer your promotion to them. I've tried this strategy and to my amusement, it worked well. I've got leads that later turned into sales over time. Here's the dummy guide for it:
Open your competitor's account
Scroll through their posts and pay attention to the comment section
Open the profile, and send your promotion through Direct Message.
Chat with your potential customers
It is a lot of work and dedication. That's why when i founded Scope Digital Marketing, my goal was to make sure experts on this issue can help business to grow. Having your own digital marketing team would be neat. However it took a lot of time to established one. This is what we told our client. We wanted to make sure that they got the best experience when they had our service.
Have you tried any of the tips mentioned above? Which one is your favorite?
